In Under the Sand, players are members of an expedition. The role of lead explorer will shift around as much as the dunes surrounding your dig sites. Each turn a new leader will assign explorers to take a turn, alliances will rise and fall depending on who is selected when. Cards will shift around the deck and between players. Hold onto cards too long and you may be cursed!
This innovative worker-placement style game plays in just 18 cards and with up to 4 players. Play by putting your thumb on the action to show it’s been taken. With only 4 actions per tablet card competition will be fierce! Each new tablet changes the game and the actions available.
Players will find amusement in the Curses as they drain away Treasure back to the dunes or possibly elevate a single player to the win!

Watch for useless Sand cards and try to bluff others into taking them from you. Strict hand limits will keep the game in check where no player will feel secure in their assumed victory.
Dig in and explore the game as the players seek to keep themselves from falling for traps not only from the deck, but by other players as well. Pyramids may rise and fall under the onslaught of wind and sand, but who knows what depths the players may find as they search.

I’ve been taking what time I can to finish setting up the pledge manager for 14ers, which we expect to open in the next week or two – keep an eye on Grazing Bear social media accounts, such as our Instagram account that I’ve linked below, to know exactly when the pledge manager is live to finalize shipping and other details. Plus, we might have a special surprise exclusive offer only available in the pledge manager….

Submitting assets to LongPack marks the transition from creative iteration to physical realization. Seeing the game move from prototypes and digital files toward a manufactured product is both surreal and deeply rewarding. We’re incredibly grateful for the patience, feedback, and encouragement from everyone who has followed Breakers along the way. Your support has helped shape every step of this process.
As we review digital proofs and prepare for the next update, we’ll continue sharing behind-the-scenes insights and production progress. Breakers is closer than ever to becoming a game you can hold, shuffle, and play, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next.

Late pledges are still open at the link below for anyone who hasn’t joined the hunt yet or wants to increase their pledge before production moves forward. To close out this update, we’re excited to share a look at the Dybbuk, one of the many fully completed monster illustrations that will appear in the final game.

Malus Hortus – speaking of Malus Hortus, the good news is that Malus Hortus is on a ship on the way to the UK! The less than fabulous news is that the ship left port a week later than expected, also it takes at least a week longer than I had thought for it to reach me once it’s in the UK. This should mean that I will have the games by the second week of February, I wish I had been able to get them out to my backers by the end of January as planned, but sadly these things happen. Rest assured once they are with me, I will be sending them out ASAP and I’ll have everything ready to go for this once they arrive.

Elemental Sprites – I’m running a BackerKit campaign as part of Pintopia for some adorable little elemental sprites! They fit perfectly in the palm of your hand, they are soft, squishy and impossibly cute but why are they related to board games you say? Well, these adorable sprites are the stars of my next mint tin game, Elemental Island. The funds raised during this campaign will be used to make prototypes and preview copies of Elemental Island. I’m also designing enamel pins to go with each of my past games as stretch goals, please join me by following the campaign on the link below.
Events – I have a couple of exciting events lined up over the coming months. On the weekend of January 31st – February 1st I will be exhibiting and running demos of Mini Memory Mischief at To Boldly Game, held at The National Space Centre in Leicester. On the weekend of February 28th – March 1st I will be exhibiting at Paradice in worthing. I hope to see some of you at these events!

On the Unfringed side of things, November and December was quite full-on with wrapping up the production files for both D.O.T and Fetching Feathers. Whose silly idea was it to kickstart two games at the same time!?! 😛
After a few late nights triple checking rulebooks and proof files though I’m very happy to say that both games are now in production and should hopefully be finishing up by the time this newsletter comes out. Fingers crossed! I’m really looking forward to seeing the mass production sample as the digital sample looked fantastic, especially the spotUV on Fetching Feathers and the adorable wooden pieces for D.O.T. Rest assured I’ll be posting photos on social media as soon as I start getting copies through.

Once I sign off the mass production copies we then start the freight process and if all goes well I should be able to get backers their games by April, which is very exciting.
For January, I will be heading to the UK space centre to take part in the “To Boldy Game” event, showcasing both of my new games, and maybe something new if I can get a nice prototype created in time. If you’re in the Leicester area please do swing by to say hi and also see a bunch of games from other Indie publishers. If not, I’ll see you all at Airecon in March!

I hope 2026 is everything I wanted from 2025. I have been designing new free games for the web site (Birthday Bash will be published soon – see picture), and I’m planning my return to a schedule for the completion of my PbtA game. I am very thankful for my artist and playtesters who have borne with me very patiently.
I hope to get something small on Kickstarter before the end of 2026 – not quite the schedule I was planning but something is better than nothing. And I hope to visit friends in England some time this coming year, so I’d love to meet some of my board game friends over there.
If you’re on TikTok, please follow me! I am planning increased content and want to meet all my friends over there, or on Bluesky. Happy New Year to us!
